The Kolbe Rosary was inspired by St. Maximillian Kolbe, whose feast day is August 14.
Best-known for his heroic martyrdom at a Nazi concentration camp during WWII, St. Maximillian Kolbe was a fascinating, modern-day saint with a deep devotion to Our Lady and the Rosary.
The inspiration for this rosary was a vision he had in which Our Lady presented him with two crowns: a white crown for purity and a red crown for martyrdom. She asked him to choose one. He chose both!
This Kolbe Rosary features 25 Hail Mary beads made from red jasper (symbolizing the crown of martyrdom) and 25 Hail Mary beads made from white river stone (symbolizing the crown of purity). Our Father beads are made from metallic hematite. The bronze centerpiece features Our Lady and the crucifix features an image of St. Francis (in homage to St. Maximillian s religious order, the Franciscans).Â
Handmade in the USA. Approximately 16 long. The crucifix is 1 1 2 long.
